On Friday July 20th 40 golfers from 4 different clubs took part in this keenly contested competition with some excellent golf. Despite a bit of rain in the middle of the day sixteen pairs managed to score 40 or more better ball stableford points with the winners, William Stoker & Les Turnbull of Stocksfield, carding an exceptional score of 52. This competition was open to male, female and mixed pairs and it was good to see the best mixed pair of Ray & Sonia Kennedy bringing in a score of 48 and the best all female pair of Brenda Mills & Marie Palmer scoring 47. Alston Golf Club provided 8 pairs with Michael Liverick & Ray Thompson, who scored 44 points, being the best placed non-Stocksfield Golf Club pair. Apart from providing some great golf the competition managed to raise well over £400 for the chosen charity.
